In some instances such as diabetic patients, examinations will require the instillation of drops into both eyes. The optometrist will advise when this is necessary.
We advise you to have someone drive you back home after your examination. Your vision will remain blurry for sometime after your examination. Individuals respond differently to the effect of the drops put into your eyes. The drops may take greater than 1 hour to wear off and your vision return to normal. Alternatively you may wait for the effects to wear off before driving. Having dark sunglasses will help reduce the glare and discomfort whilst the drops wear off.
National Health & Medical Research Council advises all people with diabetes to undergo two yearly eye examinations. However, individual's may require more frequent examinations based on their health. Our Optometrists will recommend reviews based on your needs.
